The Beginning
This started with a conviction
Flour & Sun began the way most good things do — not with a business plan, but with a belief. That bread made slowly, by hand, for your neighbors, is worth doing. That a well-crafted loaf can make someone's ordinary Tuesday feel like something.
Six years of early mornings, flour-dusted counters, and the particular satisfaction of pulling a perfectly scored sourdough from the oven. What started as a home bakery in Portland has grown into something the Pearl District can call its own.
We use a drop-based model — not because it's trendy, but because it lets us bake everything fresh, in small batches, without compromise. Every loaf available on a drop day was shaped that morning. No freezers, no shortcuts.
Made by Hand
Every loaf shaped by hand. No shortcuts that sacrifice texture or flavor.
Slow Fermentation
Our sourdoughs ferment for 24+ hours. Patience is the secret ingredient.
Community First
Built for Pearl District neighbors. Drop days are local ritual now.
Baked with Intention
Whether it's a Tuesday loaf or a wedding cake, it gets the same care.
